Wichita State to Host Utah December 12 at INTRUST Bank Arena

(Wichita, Kan.) – In partnership with Russ Potts Productions and INTRUST Bank Arena, Wichita State will stage its Dec. 12 men’s basketball game against Utah downtown. This is the sixth-consecutive year that WSU has hosted a high-profile non-conference game at the 15,004-seat facility. Start time and television information have not yet been announced.

“A big game at a big-time venue. We’re excited to be making our return to INTRUST Bank Arena in what is becoming a great Shocker tradition,” WSU head coach, Gregg Marshall said. “We’re fortunate to have such a first-class venue within minutes of campus and, every year, our players, coaches and fans look forward to the experience.”

The rematch of last year’s classic overtime finish in Salt Lake City is one of the most-anticipated games on college basketball’s 2015-16 non-conference slate. Both the Shockers and Utes spent portions of the 2014-15 season ranked in the top-10 nationally and were among NCAA Tournament’s Sweet 16.

Though the game is separate from the season package, WSU season ticket holders will have an early chance to purchase seats. Presale begins Sept. 22 and is based on accumulation of priority points. More information will be provided in the coming weeks.

Tickets go on sale to the general public on Sept. 26, starting at $14. Fans may purchase seats through a variety of methods: at the INTRUST Bank Arena Box Office, online at selectaseat.com, by phone at (855) 755-SEAT, and at all Select A-Seat outlets. Russ Potts Productions will handle promotion of the event.

The Shockers have a perfect 5-0 record at INTRUST Bank Arena, helped by last December’s 81-52 victory over Saint Louis in front of a sellout crowd.

"We know it will be a very electric atmosphere with outstanding fans,” Utah head coach, Larry Kyrstowiak said. “This will be a huge challenge for our club, competing against an excellent and veteran Wichita State team that is very wellcoached, talented and tough.”

The arena - which celebrated its fifth anniversary back in January – was recently announced as a host site for First and Second Round action of the 2018 NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament.

WSU’s complete men’s basketball non-conference schedule will be available next Wednesday, July 1 with the launch of the revitalized goshockers.com.
