EVENT: MAYOR BREWER TO RENAME WATERMAN STREET IN HONOR OF WICHITA STATE MEN’S BASKETBALL GAME

DETAILS: In honor of the Wichita State University men’s basketball game, the city has approved the temporary renaming of Waterman Street to Shocker Way. Wichita Mayor Carl Brewer will officially rename the street Friday, December 21 at 4:00 p.m. and it will remain in effect for forty-eight hours. The public is invited to attend the street renaming.
Chairman Tim Norton and representatives from Sedgwick County, Eric Sexton and representatives from Wichita State University, the Arena’s Founding Partners, and SMG will also be in attendance to assist with the renaming.

For the third consecutive year, the Wichita State’s men’s basketball team will play a game at INTRUST Bank Arena, an SMG-managed facility. The Shockers will face The University of Southern Mississippi Golden Eagles on Saturday, December 22. This will be the first meeting between the two schools. The Shockers have enjoyed success in their previous two appearances at INTRUST Bank Arena defeating both The University of Tulsa in 2010 and The University of Alabama-Birmingham last season.

The game is set to tip-off at 7:05 p.m.; doors will open at 5:30 p.m. Tickets are still available and can be purchased by visiting www.selectaseat.com, by phone at 855-755-SEAT, all Select-A-Seat outlets or in person at the INTRUST Bank Arena box office.
